Birth Stories
How we are born matters! Doing this work brings up a lot about how we were born. Ask whoever you think would have the most information for you, in regards to your birth story. If you do not have access to anyone who would know any information about your birth story, then reflect on what you do know: location, day, time of day, etc. If you can, ask multiple people so you can piece together as much as possible.
Write out your own birth story. Write whatever it is that you know. If you have access to learn more from someone who may know, initiate a conversation with that person. Try to discover whatever you can. If you do not have access to listens to someone’s account of your birth story, know that it still lies in your implicit memory. This is the true focus anyways.
After writing our your story, do the following. If you do not have access to much information at all: write out the day you were born, the location, your name at birth, etc. then do the following:
Sit in a comfortable position and begin to close your eyes. If you do not feel safe enough to close your eyes then lower your gaze and place your focus on one point.
Say the following: Hi baby “your name”, this is your older self speaking. Then begin to tell yourself all the things you know your baby self needs to hear.
Now hug yourself tightly and bring your awareness to what you are feeling.
Write down what came up for you and how you feel at the moment.
Next, say the following: Hi “ your name”, this is your higher self speaking. Then begin to tell yourself all the things you need to hear regarding your own experience(s) with pregnancy, birth, postpartum.
Now hug yourself tightly and bring your awareness to what you are feeling.
Once you are done, write out what came up for you. Try to make note of what things you even mentioned. What significance does this have? What insight does this give you?
